ROS
BURGIN

My work results from research triggered by my personal response to current affairs. Through my individual pieces I comment on contemporary life and express my concerns and interests about a range of subjects including social and geographical boundaries, freedom and limitations.

I use a wide variety of materials and methods and often recycle objects and materials. In recent pieces I have used musical instruments, books, coat hangers, suits, magazines, bicycle tyres, saddles, words and fishing net rollers.

My work reflects my working practice, which is best defined as post-studio. I often show work in locations which are not fine art galleries chosen because they give a particular context to the work, an additional way of reading the piece and an unexpected encounter with art for the public.
